To achieve this, we aim to adhere as strictly as possible to the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA. This website uses various technologies to make it as accessible as possible at all times. We provide an accessibility interface that enables people with specific disabilities to adjust the site’s UI (user interface) to their personal needs.

Additionally, the website utilizes an AI-based application that runs in the background and continuously optimizes accessibility. This application remediates the site’s HTML, adapts functionality and behavior for screen readers used by blind users, and enhances keyboard functions for individuals with motor impairments.

Screen Reader and Keyboard Navigation

Our website implements ARIA (Accessible Rich Internet Applications) attributes, alongside various behavioral adjustments, to ensure blind users visiting with screen readers can read, understand, and enjoy the site’s functions. As soon as a screen reader user enters the site, they receive a prompt to enable the Screen Reader Profile so they can browse and operate the site effectively. Here’s how we address key screen reader requirements:

Screen reader optimization: We run a background process that learns the site’s components from top to bottom to ensure ongoing compliance, even when the site is updated. We provide screen readers with meaningful data using ARIA attributes—for example: accurate form labels; descriptions for actionable icons (social media, search, cart, etc.); validation guidance for form inputs; and element roles such as buttons, menus, and modal dialogs (popups). The background process also scans all images and supplies accurate, meaningful, object-recognition-based ALT text for images that lack descriptions. It also extracts text embedded in images using OCR (optical character recognition). To enable screen reader adjustments at any time, users can press Alt+1. Screen reader users also receive an automatic announcement to turn on Screen Reader Mode upon entering the site.

These adjustments are compatible with all popular screen readers, including JAWS and NVDA.

Keyboard navigation optimization: The background process also adjusts the site’s HTML and adds JavaScript behaviors so the website is operable by keyboard. This includes navigating with Tab and Shift+Tab, operating dropdowns with the arrow keys, closing them with Esc, triggering buttons and links with Enter, moving among radio and checkbox elements with the arrow keys, and selecting them with Space or Enter. Keyboard users will also find quick-navigation and skip-to-content menus, available anytime via Alt+1 or as the first elements when navigating by keyboard. The background process manages popups by moving keyboard focus into them as soon as they appear and preventing focus from escaping.

Users can also use shortcuts to jump to specific elements: “M” (menus), “H” (headings), “F” (forms), “B” (buttons), and “G” (graphics).

  • Epilepsy Safe Mode: eliminates the risk of seizures triggered by flashing/blinking animations and risky color combinations.

  • Visually Impaired Mode: adjusts the site for users with visual impairments (e.g., degrading eyesight, tunnel vision, cataract, glaucoma).

  • Blindness Mode: configures the site for compatibility with screen readers such as JAWS, NVDA, VoiceOver, and TalkBack.

  • Keyboard Navigation Profile (Motor-Impaired): enables operation via Tab, Shift+Tab, and Enter; the shortcuts M/H/F/B/G are also available.

  • Font adjustments: increase/decrease size, change family, adjust spacing, alignment, line height, and more.

  • Color adjustments: choose contrast profiles (light, dark, inverted, monochrome) and swap color schemes for headings, text, and backgrounds (7+ options).

  • Animations: users sensitive to flashing can stop all running animations with one click (videos, GIFs, CSS flashing transitions).

  • Content highlighting: emphasize important elements such as links and headings, or highlight only focused/hovered elements.

  • Audio muting: instantly mute all audio on the site to avoid issues from auto-playing sounds.

  • Cognitive support: a search tool linked to Wikipedia and Wiktionary helps decipher meanings of phrases, initials, and slang.

  • Additional functions: change cursor color/size, use print mode, enable a virtual keyboard, and more.

We aim to support the widest array of browsers and assistive technologies so users can choose the tools that suit them with as few limitations as possible.
